Precious minerals are not more precious than human lives or our environment. The extraction of any mineral, however valuable, must rest on two non-negotiables: informed consent of local communities and rigorous scientific assessment of its environmental and public health impacts. Without these, development loses its legitimacy.
I stand with the people of Kanyakumari in seeking a re-examination of the IREL project and the Government Order extending its land allocation. A one-year extension on paper can leave generations with irreversible health consequences. Tamil Nadu's coasts are living ecosystems, not just mineral deposits. Listen to the people. Protect our shores.
