Makkal Needhi Maiam welcomes TN Agri budget 2023, calling it a focused protection for farming & farmers. The TN Agri budget has proposed progressive initiatives to enhance the livelihood of farmers .

The decision to form a team under a Forest Officer, to protect crops from wildlife, is a noteworthy move.
The need of the hour is to protect the harvested crop from unexpected natural calamities. With that in mind,
Rs. 22 crores has been allotted to improve and streamline the infrastructure of godowns, exchange centres and dry fields in Villupuram, Thanjavur and Cuddalore.

To encourage the younger generation to take up agriculture, the TN Government has announced Rs. 2 Lakhs each to 200 students of Agriculture & Horticulture, as a capital investment to mould them as entrepreneurs.

To alleviate the mounting financial crisis during cultivation period, Rs.14,000 crores has been allotted, to be used as loans to the struggling farmers.

Offering International education accessible to the farmers, honouring highly productive farmers with Nammazhvar Award, stand out as stellar points.

Rs. 6,536 crores to enable free electricity to farmers, Rs. 11 crores as subsidy to Adi Dravida and Tribal farmers , making small grains available at ration outlets, establishing agriculture - oriented factories & Research Centres, & allotment of Rs. 1000 crores for Cauvery River Bed are seen as projects with much foresight.

As Makkal Needhi Maiam keeps voicing out for self sufficiency in the farming sector, the launch of Kalaignar's Comprehensive Integrated Agriculture Program, comes in at the appropriate time.

An exclusive Directorate for Madurai Jasmine, Jackfruit and drumstick, an exclusive zone for chillies, making onion & tomato available throughout the year, subsidy for cultivation of winter crops are sure to motivate our farmers to aim for the highest possible yield!

Farm Tourism targeting students would be a game changer in the professional choices arena.

In all, the TN Agri Budget 2023 stands out as inclusive, comprehensive and progressive!
